Each activity is listed in a typical order, with the understanding that flexibility is important, allowing for special circumstances and for making the preschool session run smoothly. Time is built into the schedule in order for children to be prepared for transitions.

Daily Schedule:

Greeting Time: (9:00 – 9:15 a.m.)                                                              Teachers meet and greet the children, allowing time for free play and settling in for the school day.

Gathering Time: (9:15 – 9:35 a.m.)                                                            Children come together in a large group. They learn about and discuss the theme of the day through music, movement, stories and active participation. Activities for the day and their locations are described to the children.

Free Play Time: (9:35 –10:30 a.m.)
Children participate individually or cooperatively in activities at the various centers in the room. Activity centers include construction, art, creative play, manipulatives, library, dramatic play, math, science and sand or water bins.

Clean Up Time: (10:30 - 10:40 a.m.)
All children are asked to participate in cleaning up in order to prepare for the next activity. This may be group snack, outside play or a special activity.

Snack Time: (10:45 – 11:00 a.m.)                                                            The school provides snack for the children. It is usually offered in a large group, but may be done as a choice during free play time as well.

Small Group Time: (11:00 – 11:20 a.m.)
Children meet with a teacher in small groups to do projects and/or other cognitive activities. The weekly theme is often represented in the projects.

Outside Play Time: (11:30 – 12:00 noon)
Children will be taken outside to play whenever possible, weather permitting. During the winter months, families will be asked to provide appropriate cold weather clothing for their children so that we can continue to include outside play in our daily schedule. In the event that we are unable to go outside, we will have active play inside the building.

Dismissal Time: (12:00 noon)
Children are dismissed by the staff to parents or authorized drivers at the end of the school session. Dismissal may take place from the playground or the classroom, depending on the schedule for the day.
